Generic Metrogel with the generic name Metronidazole is a prescription drug available in two forms for patients in the Untied States. Both the varieties comprise the antibacterial and antiprotozoal ingredient Metronidazole; however, each variety is indicated for different conditions.

The first drug, called just Generic Metrogel, takes care of the inflammatory skin disorder rosacea. The second drug known as Metrogel Vaginal features a particular US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved indication for dealing with the sexually transmitted disease (STD), bacterial vaginosis. Since Generic Metrogel and Metrogel Vaginal contain dissimilar inactive ingredients, they present somewhat dissimilar side effects and guidelines for use.
